Ghent World Exhibition 1913

The Ghent World Exhibition ran from April 26 to November 3, 1913. The expo took place in the Sint-Pieters-Aalst district behind the Sint-Pieters railway station and in the Citadel Park. The main entrance was located on the Kortrijksesteenweg, at the height of the Onafhankelijkheidslaan. Visitors entered the exhibition grounds through the Erehof, now Paul de Smet de Naeyer Square, with the grounds extending along the current Krijgslaan to the Sterre in the south and the Citadel Park in the north. Most of the exhibition palaces were temporary structures that were demolished after the expo closed.

The entire exhibition site (in the current Citadel Park and Miljoenenkwartier) was reconstructed in three dimensions based on photos and historical building plans from the City Archives and the University Library.

Take a virtual walk through the expo palaces via this interactive 3D model and experience the scale and appearance of the Ghent World Exhibition of 1913.
