Ghent Essential. Since 2022, STAM has been collecting ‘rebellious heritage’—a collection that captures debates on the changing city.

From protests against the housing shortage and actions for or against new mobility plans, to campaigns for climate-conscious policies and efforts to combat sexual harassment, rebellious objects represent the voices of the city’s residents.

This collection documents the history of tomorrow. It provides the building blocks for a nuanced story. What may seem ‘insignificant’ now could later become important witnesses to urban change in Ghent.

The ‘rebellious heritage’ collection was created in close collaboration with activist groups and neighborhood committees.
