Bijloke site

STAM is located on the Bijloke site, a green oasis close to the city centre, a haven of culture on the banks of the River Leie (Lys). For seven centuries the sick were cared for on this site, but then a quarter of a century ago the hospital vacated it, making way for a number of departments of the college of higher education (Hogeschool Gent). Numerous other educational and cultural organizations followed.

The re-landscaped and extended gardens will help link the various initiatives. Bordering on the inner ring-road there will be a museum garden with a pond.
